A radical initiative for economic empowerment — where Queer artists, creatives, entrepreneurs, businesses, performers, and community come together to thrive.
The Queer Artist Flea Market is more than a space — it's a movement. Founded in 2023, we create intentional, joyful spaces where Queer artists and entrepreneurs can build sustainable economic lives while celebrating their full selves.
We believe in the radical act of Queer people thriving. Every market we host puts money directly into the hands of our community, amplifies Queer voices through art and performance, and builds the kinds of joyful connections that sustain us.
The Queer Artists Flea Market has also birthed an award ceremony to further support, celebrate, and recognise queer talents and works. The awards is called the Queer Creatives Pamoja Awards.
Curated stalls for Queer-owned businesses, artists, and makers. From handmade crafts to fashion, beauty, books, and beyond — our market is a thriving economic hub.
Spotlight performances from Queer musicians, spoken word poets, dancers, and multi-disciplinary artists. Every stage is a platform for authentic creative expression.
Queer DJs keep the energy alive all day. From house to afrobeats, dancehall to amapiano — the soundtrack of our community, curated with love.
Interactive games and activities for all. Because Queer joy is also about play, laughter, and creating memories with your people in a safe, affirming space.
Seven editions of joy, art, music, and community. Here's a glimpse into the magic we've created together.
▶ Watch Our Past EditionsThe Queer Artists Flea Market is an Initiative designed to support, celebrate, and uplift queer creatives, artists, entrepreneurs, businesses, activists and athletes in Kenya by providing safe spaces and programs where Queer Joy can be experienced and Queer Excellence can thrive. The Initiative provides a platform for queer individuals to showcase their art, creative works and innovations while promoting LGBTQ+ rights, visibility, and empowerment. Our mission is to design significant moments of empowering celebration, visibility of queer works & talents and advocacy, bringing together LGBTQ+ communities, allies, and activists in Kenya in solidarity.
The Queer Artists Flea Market would love to make the IDAHOBIT Celebration Market a free entrance market for community and queer creative entrepreneurs. In order to make this a reality we will require sponsorship and donors to come onboard — and together we can make this happen.
Since its inception, QAFM has majorly been independently funded, thus ticketing plays an essential part in adding support to some operational costs.
We are doing a 2-week CALLOUT for Sponsorship for the IDAHOBIT Celebration Market. If successful, all ticketing and vendor charges for the IDAHOBIT Celebration Market will be closed, refunds facilitated, and an announcement for free entry will be delivered.
We welcome all amazing friends and supporters of the Queer Artists Flea Market to join us in making this a reality. We are because you are 🌈🤎
We open our market to Queer artists, makers, and small business owners. Whether you sell handmade jewelry, art prints, clothing, food, beauty products, or anything in between — there's a stall here for you.
